My daughter has just turned 12. She has been on concerta since age 9. Over the past 3 months we are getting tons of phone calls from the school. They are saying she is easily distracted, not working well in groups. mood swings, not listing to teachers, aruguring with other students. (she also has a learning disability) We took her to the dr's and the increased her concerta. It didnt do anything. At times she is mean to other kids. Up until this point she has had no behavior issues or problems with academics. Tonight she was @ her girlscout meeting and arguing with other girls and being very disrespectul to the leader. We are thinking her concerta just dosent work anymore. Any suggestions??

I am sure that may be part of the problem especially when I have other parents telling me their daughters have been changing in simular ways. This is too much of a drastic change. Her behavior and issues @ school r the same as they were b4 we new she had adhd. I have read and been told by her behavior therapyst its more then pre-teen behavior. Thanks for your response.

It sounds like she is a normal, hormonal 12 year old girl pushing the boundaries. There's no medication for that. All teens tend to go through these changes, and as parents, we need to provide consequences for their actions. Don't just write it off as her ADHD.
