I am a mother of a 10 year old boy. He has been diagnosed with ADHD since about age 5 and I have always been told he would benefit from meds. We finally got to a point where I was ready to try it because of in school behaviors, hitting screaming at people etc. First we tried metadate he was too sensitive he appeared as if he was on heavy meds when taking even the smallest amount. His eyes glossed over and very emotional so we stopped. Then we tried focalin same results even taking the smallest amount. Then we tried stratera with no results. So now about 3 years later after arguing continuously with class mates. We are now in Asia and they prescribed concerta NO results, besides glossy eyes I actually think he socked the kid in the nose on day 2 after taking concerta. The kid was in his ear teasing him. NO excuse but he was/is impulsive. So now a few weeks later still getting into trouble for impulsivity. So we go to psychiatrist and he prescribes risperdal. But I am seeing all this info on it working on frontal lobe and young developing minds shouldn't take this because it may alter the mind. I have done some research and was prescribed Intuniv before leaving states but I just didn't even try it.
Can someone give me some advice or much needed info? Thank you all.
