I a LBK. My amputation was very recent and I have two young children, 1 & 2 that I have the possibility to adopt. They have been with me from birth until about 6 months ago when I became very sick and underwent the surgery so I would be able to care for them again. I am a full-time student, I work part time and I very much want to be able to have the kids back permanently. My only concern is whether or not I will be able to physically keep up with them both. I am 42, in good shape, no other health issues. I guess I am questioning if them being with me is in their best interest; in some ways I think I can teach them things they could only learn from a person with a disability but then I wonder if it's being fair to them by not being able to run around and keep up with them physically. Has anyone else struggled with this and if so how did you decide?
