Stop giving her money be it lending money or not. She is an adult. Also tell her that until she can talk to you in a respectful manner you are not wanting to hear it. She is more than old enough to do that.

Why is your financial status impacting your adult child?? She should be totally capable of supporting herself.

Let me point out something: Adult children who continually demand money, etc from their parents learned how to do it as minor children, by their parents continually giving them everything they wanted.

Case in point: My own kids, who were taught fiscal responsibility at an age appropriate level from the time they were old enough to understand. They don't demand money constantly, and do not make money or gifts a condition of a relationship.

That being said, if you're tired of giving in to your daughter, STOP! Tell her that the free ride is finally over, and get her under contract for living in your home. Outline your responsibilities to her as a landlord, and hers to you as a tenant.

She's 28, so she should be a responsible adult and know how to treat people. You don't have to take disrespect from her. if you lost your job, she should be more understanding.

I doubt that you'll see that $2000 you lent her. It's never a good idea to "loan" people money. If you help them financially, then even if you tell them it's a loan you should not expect to be paid back. Most times you never see that money again.

So, she is treating you badly because you have no money? Is she expecting a pay out or something?
