My son will be four in Feb.He has a speech delay that puts him at just a little over two.We went through speech therapy at eighteen months but the cut off age was when he turned three.I'm wandering if any moms out there have advice for what I can try to help him speak better.I also work 2nd shift.3:15 pm to 2:00 am so I don't gay alot of time with him except on a Sunday.

Our local school system has a developmental preschool program for kids 3 - K, so that when they age out of toddler support, they can get the speech therapy at school; kids with all sorts of issues are enrolled, but the majority are there for speech therapy. My kiddo was in the program and I worked as a teacher's assistant there for a year or so. I'm guessing they must not have that where you live, or else the speech therapy folks would have referred you? I would suggest calling your county health dept. and asking for guidance. Not know what state you live in, I am not sure how to best advise you, but local social services personnel should be able to help. You could also ask your pediatrician, or call the Peds dept. at the closest hospital and ask for help. Best wishes!

Sorry I haven't been on here for a while...I am in Indiana, too! :) We are in the Indy metro area, northwest of the city border, but only 15 min. from downtown Indy via I-65. Were you able to find out anything in your new home area? The state DOE contact info is: Phone
