My son just turned 8 months old and if he eats anything with even a little texture he gags untill he throws up! He wont eat puffs or even the "meat foods"! The doctor says to let him get used to them but its really not possable when he chokes untill he throws up! Any advice?

My son didn't like textures too well either. I went out and spent $15 on a small food processor.

I started by making chicken, putting it in the food processor and then adding it to pureed carrots or sweet potatoes. Chicken is kind of bland so it's not a huge change in taste, along with texture. By "making" your own food and having a food processor you have the ability to regulate how big the pieces are and how much you add to the jars of already pureed foods. This helped me tremendously and we were able to move on quickly and smoothly at our (his) own pace.

Don't worry or put pressure on yourself or him, he will eventually like more textures, my son is nearly 22 months and still very picky about texture. So as for right now we stick with the foods he will get. I something has too much text has some veggie or pure fruit juice put it in the blender and make is smoothers. He may also go through stages that with teeth coming in and only likes the softer, smooter foods. My son hated peas, gagged and threw up with them, and now it's the ONLY veg he will eat. Really the only one. So every nite that's what he gets, I'm just thankful he likes at least one veg. Best of luck. But really dont' worry, I've never seen or met an adult that is still eating only baby foods. lol.
