Advice please. My 15 months old doesn't show any interest in reading. Is this ok?

Hello all,

my 15 months old baby is never interested in me reading to her. She holds the books and looks at them, but whenever i start reading to her, she says" No" and closes the book. Is this normal? I read that by this age, they should be interested in stories and books. Anyone familiar with this?

Well, she IS interested in books if she is happy to hold them and look at them. She just wants to read them in her own way. Just remember, the chances are, the actual words in the books probably don't necessarily make sense to her when you read them to her. At this age, just point to the pictures and ask her what it is, and talk about the pictures, rather than following the words of the book.

It's normal for her. Try pointing to pictures and asking what it is, or asking her to find the bird, chair, whatever. I think if you give it a few months, she'll learn to love it, which is probably what you really want.
