advice regarding daycare

I am a working Mom and I send my only son, 13 month old, to a family based day care. My son has been going here since the last 4 months but yet he does not seem happy to go there. He cries unconsolably when being dropped off. I have seen the provider scolding the kids very often for apparently very simple reasons. She appears nice when I and my husband want to discuss how our son is doing, but obviously we do not get to know what is happening behind our backs. My son just does not like going to her. Should I change the daycare or is it just separation anxiety or is he scared?

Thanks for your patience and any advice will be appreciated.

Ask yourself these questions, does your son only get upset with going to daycare or when you leave him with anyone other than yourself or your husband. If he does not then it is not separation anxiety. Honestly at the age of 13 months I would be looking for a different caregiver as apparently this is not a good fit for him. He should bond with the caregiver not be upset when seeing them.
