I was a little sore for a few days in the area they inserted it, but otherwise for effects at all.

The only problem I had was I wasn't getting enough....only one side was numbing so I told the nurse they told the epidural guy and they just upped it a little bit....I wasn't 100% sure on my height and I don't think I was getting enough for how tall I am....I had no problems after they took it out either...the numbness went away after an hour or so I believe...and I would reccomend an epidural actually...before giving birth I wanted to try it naturally but I was induced they broke my water at 9 am and I got up to about 5 or 6 cm dialated but wasn't going anywhere...the pain was tolerable but uncomfortable...I ended up getting the epidural about oh probably 1pm and my daughter was delivered at 5:04 pm....after the epidural kicked in and having no pain I went from 6 to 10 in no helps you and your body be able to relax and makes it go much faster and much easier on the baby too.

I had an epidural for an emergency c-section and although it was put in wrong the first time and they had to redo it and I ended up getting two full doses of medication, the only side effect I had was I was a little drowsy for about 20 mins, but when I heard my son cry I was able to focus. I wish I had been able to try and push without any medication, but he was a month premature and I didn't have a choice.

I had three epidurals in the space of an hour as they had abolutely no affect on me at all. I went into labour with a split pelvis so I was in alot of pain already but all the epidural did was take the edge off. I had the needle moved three times as I needed a c section but in the end I ended up with a full anesthetic. Even after having three needle sites I had no after affects, at the time I did have pins and needles in my legs but nothing serious. My advice for your sister is go with the flow and experience labour first before she decides she wants the serious drugs. I had 2 10lb babies on gas and air and found those labours alot less stressful.

I had no side effects from it at all. I have heard of some women having bad effects, but I think that as long as the anaesthetist knows his/her stuff, the risk is low. She'd be best to talk to her Ob/Gyn and ask about the risks and how often there are bad effects.

Just a little soreness. To me the epidural was a life saver for pain. If I wasn't induced though I would have had my baby naturally.
