My oldest is 12.... and goes to school w/ a girl who has already had MULTIPLE sex partners... I think she started dating at 10. Sad, sad state of affairs. :( My older two are definitely interested in boys (very much so), but there is no way they are ready for a boyfriend or to be dating. That is, imo, crazy... though I know other parents disagree w/ me. 'I' definitely do not want to become a grandma for a LONG time still....

16 for one on one in public dates. Small group, WELL supervised activities... I would say could start around 13-14.

9.5 is still VERY young and they need a good education (on puberty, sex, and all related matters) and lots of supervision... and good, solid, personal reasons why they don't want to have sex in their teen years (this is, of course, no guarantee... but they will need to know ALL the risks and find a reason for themselves why it isn't worth it).

Well, then obviously you have decided that your children are old enough. Why bother asking opinions?

IMHO, even 12 is too young. But, as I say, you've decided.

and ONLY if you have prepared them fully with how to say NO to sexual advances, etc...

Or did you WANT to become a grandmother at a young age?

They are 9 1/2. They are not mentally mature enough to be even close to dating age.

Seriously, Maria? Flagging posts as having rude language?

WHAT RUDE LANGUAGE???? People posting opinions that do not agree with yours is not rude...it is posting differing opinions!

I would say at around the age of 16,and be sure to talk to them about sexual transmitted diseases and how to protect them self (condoms & birthcontrol).
