Father never visits child and after 10 months wants me to allow child to go with alone out of town. Even though I think it's a very bad idea, should I let him take the child for a day?

You had your child in the US, you DO NOT have sole custody unless you have a court order. He's got rights

Because I had my child in SC, I have custody. I never stopped him from visiting, that was all his choice.

What are your orders regarding custody? If you don't have any, get some.

File for temporary custody first. That way you have the court proceedings started and it will hopefully make things easier if he tries to refuse to bring the child back. You NEED to have custody and visitation orders in order to best protect all 3 of you.

File for custody and visitation orders. At this point, you don't really have the right to tell him he can't visit whenever he chooses - if you say no it could be argued parental alienation. Custody and visitation orders will protect everyone and spells out when he can have visitation time (and if he chooses not to take advantage of that, then his loss).
