Am I a bad mother

I am new to Circle of Moms and I think I really need help. I have 2 boys. 5 year old and 3 month old. My 5 year old is a really picky eater and eats very little. At one point he was way below the growth chart. Now he's between 3rd and 5th percentile. Since he eats so little, me and my husband always kind of push him to eat ( it's kind of our habit now) so that he could gain some weight. But sometimes he says that he is not feeling well or he does not want to eat and we force him to eat and he ends up throwing up big time. As he always say no to food, it's hard for us to differentiate when he is genuine.
I feel terrible after he throws up and ffel like a faliure.
He loves his little brother and is not jealous.
My mother is has come to help us with the baby and every time he throws up or upset, I kind of get the blame that I am not treating him well.

Personally I would never force my child to eat. How would you feel if you were being forced to eat? It's also been shown to cause eating disorders. He will eat when he is hungry. Just be sure to offer healthy well rounded meals and let him eat what he wants. Have you talked to his pediatrician about his eating habits? If not I would start there but most importantly don't force feed him. I don't think this makes you a bad Mother I just think you need to figure out a different way of dealing with meal time. Good luck!

No your not a bad mom, I agree he should be taken to the doctor, something could be wrong with the way he digests food, hang in there.

I don't think you are a bad mom, but I would seek the help from his doctor. He may have some allergies to foods that make his tummy hurt and he doesn't wan tto eat?
