Im going crazy with anxiety over whether or not im making enough milk... my son is now 4 months old, and is supposed to be getting half of his body weight in milk per feeding so 7oz a feeding... i know i am not making 7 ounces a feeding.. people keep telling me i am but i know my body. my breasts are never full they feel empty unless i dont feed him for four hours straight.. im taking fennugreek tablets, 12 a day, and its really not helping much at all.. im ready to give up i dont know how much more i can do.. its making me really depressed the thought of switching over to formula.. im out of ideas....
hes peeing enough but hes seems really really fussy and hes constantly on my breasts..

If he isn't losing weight, and he's not dehydrated, then you probably ARE making enough food for him. I would try to just hold out a bit longer, but like Kelina said, there are prescriptions (Domperidone, specifically), that can increase your supply.

And if worst comes to worst, and he IS losing weight, you still don't have to switch to formula. But you can perhaps supplement a tiny bit. So you could still give him all kinds of breast milk, and then if he's still hungry, maybe an ounce or two of formula in a cup. (Not a bottle, as you don't want him to get nipple confusion.)

Keep in mind that in another month or two, your son will be ready to start solids. So that might help keep him a little bit more satisfied as well. That's why I'm suggesting that as long as he's still gaining, even if it's very slowly, to ride it out. He'll be on solids soon enough, which will help matters.

He could be going through a growth spurt and your milk just hasnt caught up with him. Feed him more often and pump between feedings you will start to make more milk. I breast fed for a year and went through that about every 2 to 4 months my son would hit a growth spurt and my milk production would have to catch up then when they slow down your over producing lol you will fine just breath and dont stress out to much

try o remember that every growth spurt is going to be different. he's still very young these patterns are going to be constantly changing, if he's gaining weight like others have told you then try to relax. if you're worried then go to your doctor and have him weighed. If he's really not gaining weight then your doctor can give you a prescription to help you increase your milk supply.

hes not going through a growth spurt, he sleeps all day when hes going through a growth spurt. its hard to relax when your realizing that your not making enough food for your baby.

If he's growing (even slowly), thriving, and peeing enough.... it's, most likely, totally fine. Your breasts not feeling full means nothing as far as how much you are or are not producing and him wanting to nurse constantly is also perfectly normal.

If your son is still gaining weight and is peeing enough, then he's getting enough. At 4 months, they DO gear up for a growth spurt, and it's very difficult to keep up with their appetite. But it will pass.

Just try to relax, as stress can screw with your supply. Have you also considered blessed thistle, in conjunction with the fenugreek? I've heard it can help. Also, make sure you are drinking enough water. But primarily, I'd say to just do your best to relax. Meditate if you have to. He's going to be okay. And if you're really worried, rent a baby scale for a month and weigh him once a week.
