Simply put: Breastfeeding or not, if you've had unprotected sex AT ALL, using pull out 'method' (shich is another fallacy) or not, you run the risk of pregnancy.

*So yes Breastfeeding can be but NOT always but was for me .. Great birth control

That was all I was referring to.....

And yes, there are women that can have a period all throughout their pregnancy.... just as there are women that can not have a period all throughout breastfeeding. It happens as I clearly stated in my first response, but you DO also ovulate before your period... so no one can know if they are one of the 'lucky' ones or not until it is potentially too late to avoid. Sorry you took offense to me trying to make that clear.

Obviously MOST people do not take everything they read online as fact, but you'd be surprised of just how ignorant some people can be... stick around on this site long enough and you will see it almost daily... lol

Breastfeeding is NOT birth control. One woman's experience is proof of nothing... except what I already stated... that SOME women do not get their periods while breastfeeding. I know a woman who had her period every month (who had never had kids yet) and it still took her 2 years of trying to get pregnant to get pregnant... is that proof that using no form of birth control whatsoever will keep a woman from getting pregnant? No... it's just proof that SHE took a while to conceive.

I know a woman who was exclusively breastfeeding TWINS... and got her period back at 6 weeks. I was exclusively breastfeeding my son and got my period back at 2.5 months... One woman's story is proof of nothing and can be very misleading and potentially harmful to a woman who reads it and thinks they can have sex while breastfeeding and have no worry of pregnancy.

Okay let me tell you. I breastfed all five of my kids.. I never had a period till about a month or two after I stopped breastfeeding.. .but I was a full time feeder.. if you are bottle feeding in between I don't know.. but I never got pregnant or had a period till I stopped feeding,, then anything could happen and did.. LOL .. Two months later I was pregnant right after I started my first period.. So yes Breastfeeding can be but NOT always but was for me .. Great birth control and I loved not having a cycle for two years.. Yes I fed mine for two years.. and for the most part I had NO period sometimes I started back up 19 months later because I was slowing down the feeding process. sometimes not. I have five children how ever.. so that also tells you I wanted to get pregnant.. LOL. and did nothing to prevent it.. I truly feel GOD chose each and every time I did get pregnant not me or my cycle. but I know that is my opinion.. and you can choose to not believe the fact that I did not have a cycle that whole time.. I do not mind.. but I have proof.. that being my OB/GYN. LOL

I do not take offense,, I was just explaining to Saira what I meant by my post, I was agreeing that you can breastfeed and not have a period.. I never had protected sex the whole time. we used nothing my husband and I.. and he was home off and on being a military wife he was also gone some too.. so maybe we were just lucky.. who knows.. I obviously did not have the egg drop or it was not good enough or we missed the boat.. either way,, I had to have at least one period first after stopping feeding,, then the next month Wham I was pregnant.. I guess I am weird or what ever you would like to call it.. and as you can see by my other posts I advised her to see her OB/GYN to make sure..
I don't think the people on here are dumb either none of them, I never assume anything is all... I do not believe there is such a thing.. Stupid is as Stupid does.. and Common sense told me ,, each time I could be pregnant. but I really did not worry about it.. cause we wanted more.. but anyone that does not want another child, should not take the chance.. I agree with that.. but not like we are trying to prevent a disease here.. So I was not taking this as seriously as all that.. If she is pregnant then just another blessed baby to add to her family.. If she does not want one well that is sad but still not fatal. .. So yeah I usually only comment on things I know something about,, and having five of my own and breastfeeding all five,, I do know something about that.. if I saw a post on something I knew very little to nothing about.. I would not post.. That being said.. I do not take offense at anything you said.. In fact Thank you for saying something because after reading my post I realized I left out a few details, but I just thought seeings how she already had one child she knew anything was possible with NO protection.. .. Sorry Saira.. Meant no harm..

Saira please go to your Doctor to confirm.. I also took a pregnancy test after my second son was born and I did not have a period for 6 months,, it also was negative but I still went to the Doctor,, thinking it was a bad test,, He also confirmed I was not pregnant,,and told me then that sometimes while breastfeeding the egg does not drop there by NO period.. not to worry but if I did not want a baby again right away to seek a mild form of birth control that would not hurt the baby I was not trying to prevent a pregnancy wanted to know if I was so I did not take any birth control..I did not have a period while feeding him till 18 months when I stopped feeding him completely.. BUT Wham was pregnant the next month..Then I lost that baby to a miscarriage.. I am not saying this is a normal or even good process.. in fact I blamed the miscarriage on the fact I might not of bled long enough after giving birth to my second son because of the breastfeeding.. So you see, going to your Doctor to confirm this is good.. I say my Heavenly Father Chose the next time I got pregnant.. and I stick by that. I am not telling you at all that Breastfeeding is a good form of Birth Control.. I am simply stating it can happen.. No period does not mean no pregnancy.. in Fact I know a lady that had several periods while being pregnant.. So go figure that one out.. LOL

OH wanted to add.. the lady I knew that claimed she had a period several times as a matter of fact and was still pregnant,, I took with a grain of salt,, I mean I had no reason to believe or not believe and I could not prove it.. you can not prove what I am telling you either.. one reason we should all seek the advice of a professional.. I did not realize this Group was Gospel. I thought we only wrote down our own experiences, and people could take from it what they will.. not think it gospel truth.. I know I do not believe everything I read.. on the other Hand Saira if you turn out to be NOT pregnant and continue to not have a period.. I guess you can be some what my proof.. that it can happen.. NOT that it is a form of Birth Control,, I never said that.

I said Can be for me, BUT Not always, and yes it is NOT birth control,, not at all if you read right, I said I was not trying either way. I actually was wanting more and left it in God's Hands. So if a smart person out there is not wanting more children and I assume we all know what causes that.. then by all means get birth control. .. I just stated it can happen.. it did for me.. all my children are Two to Nearly Four years apart.. did I eventually have a period yes after a few years of breastfeeding each child.. Do I believe that stopped me from getting pregnant. NO ,, because I clearly stated that I feel God had a hand in it.. NOT my periods, but I still had NONE while breastfeeding and was NOT pregnant, so this does happen.. LOL.. sorry I wrote that wrong for some eyes.. I will try and do better next time.

Did you even have a period yet... or just the afterbirth bleeding and now nothing?

Some women do not get a period the entire time they breastfeed, some women get it back w/in the first 2 months after birth... and some women get it back sometime later, but still while breastfeeding.

Anytime you have unprotected sex you can fall pregnant. We don't know if you are and it can take a while after having a baby for your cycle to return to normal.
If you are concerned see your doctor.
Breastfeeding isn't birth control!!! Use condoms if you don't want to fall pregnant.
