My daughter is 14 and this is the 3rd year in a row that she has gotten hand foot and mouth disease. It happens every summer, every month of the summer, and then she doesn't see it again until the next year. The first time she came down with the symptoms the doctor told us what it was and said that because of her period that her immune system must be down and that she contracted the disease. When she got it again the next month she said that it probably would take a few months to run its course....fast forward to 3 years later and she gets it every summer.
Anyone else have a child that gets HFM recurring like this? I feel bad because it hurts her to bend her hands and she gets self conscious when her peers see her red blotches on her hands, elbows, knees, and feet. Thankfully she has never gotten them in her mouth. I now have an infant and I hope she doesn't get sick.
