Contact the local high school and set up a meeting with the counselor. Many districts in Texas have programs where students can participate in flexible classes designed to help them finish up their degrees. The school counselor will be able to advise you as to what the best choice will be for you. Best of luck for you in 2013. Let me know if I can help further.

I forgot to add that the counseor at the high school should be able to advise you about GEDs as well. If going to college if an eventual goal, getting your GED will not hurt you. I know that my son got his GED and was accepted into college. He went to community college for a year and then on to a public university.

If you finished up to 11th grade and got decent grades in school.... getting your GED should be no problem. I was out of school for almost 2 decades before I got my GED and I didn't even have to take any classes. I scored high enough on the practice tests that they just scheduled me for the GED the next time it was offered. ;)

They may require your most recent transcript from CA to prove that you've been in high school. You can call the nearest high school and if they don't have the answers you are looking for... they'll have the number you need to call to see about getting your GED.

You can get several different types of jobs w/out a high school diploma or GED to help you have some money while you get the schooling situation settled though.

check with your local family services office. they should be able to help you with childcare while you are in school, or even getting your ged. i dropped out and got my ged when my oldest was born, and my ged class was down the hall from his daycare class. i only went 4 hours a day, and i ended up getting my ged before i would have graduated. dont give up and dont get discouraged. your education is very important, and you can do it.
