I would avoid mineral oil due to the effect it can have on such little bodies.

How old? It really depends on age and what you have already introduced. If you are talking about an infant, talk to your doctor. If you are talking about 5 months still talk with your doctor but you should be able to offer watered down pear juice and prune juice. If older than a year, look at what you are feeding him/her (really that is important at any age) and make sure you are providing enough fruites and vegetables. Definitely soft fresh pears, prunes, grapes, watermelon, and make sure drinking more water. Good luck.

The P's....peaches, pears, prunes, pineapples....that what our pediatrician said for one of mine as a toddler or adult for that matter. You can also put a little mineral oil in their food or drink which is another natural help.

If it is in a toddler watered down prune juice will help to loosen them up and get them going. Biggest thing is lots of fiber in the diet.
