Any advice on how to get my 12 yr old to go to school?

It's your job as a parent to make sure she goes to school. If there's something going on there that makes her not want to go, then you need to get to the bottom of it and either get the issue resolved at that school or transfer her to a different school. If you take her to school, but she leaves, then report her for truancy. Tell her life as she has it is much better than she realizes, and you don't want to see her go to a detention center, but she has to attend school.

Why is she missing school? Your post makes it sound like it is because she is simply refusing to go. Have you asked her why?

Quite honestly, it is her job to go to school. However, as a high school teacher who works closely with 12 year olds, I can say that this is possibly a result of major anxiety issues. I would suggest you try to talk to her about why. Also talk to the school about what supports they can put into place to assist with these anxieties. If she is showing these behaviours now, at 12 years old, it is best to try and put resources in place now than later.
