My daughter is 9 months old still wearing 0-3 clothes.. A lot of people question if she has a type of dwarfism or not. I can't find anything online nor through her pediatricians. What do I do???

OK, I just checked my charts, and she is well below the 3rd percentile in height/length and around the 3rd percentile in weight, so she is very small. BUT how big was she when she was born? It takes time for little babies to catch up. And how tall are you and her father? There are so many factors to be taken into consideration. And has your pediatrician expressed any concern at all? If not, I wouldn't worry at all at this stage. My daughter has been below 3rd percentile many times in her life (and at other times she is well over, it just depends on her growth spurts), and this is just normal for her. She is a perfectly happy and healthy 6 year old :)

I think as long as she is growing and healthy you have no worries. My nephew was in 0-3 months at 9 months, he turns 1 in about 2 weeks and has only now wearing 3-6 months clothes. He's just tiny.

My girl is 9months and still fits in 0-3, I was deadly worried but since I have read all ur comments I feel much better now. She's so small that makes everyone concern including myself. Her milestone is OK she doing everything that children her age is doing. Thanks to circleofmoms.

Hey..i have a 14 months old girl..which is 23 inches tall n around 12 and 13 pounds..she is sooo tiny...even tinnier than ur baby rite now...she is well below 3rd percentile...we are seeing docs since she was 1 month old...n still waiting for a diagnose...docs are not able to give us any answer dat why is she so short n they say dat her limbs are small too(not freakishly)...so u can understand how stressful dis for me...infact v hav done testing for dwarfism...reports were normal(Thank You God)

I think ur baby is just fine some kids are small n there is not necessarily something wrong with them...i know how people are concern about ur baby...my suggestion is STAY STRONG...u r not alone...there are even smaller babies than urs
One more thing my daughter still wears 0-3 clothing(i wish she grow out of them soon)..please pray

Get a second opinion I think. It would probably make you feel better.

I am 5'3 her father is 5'10, She is crawling and all she says is dada but that has stopped recently where she wont talk. Her older siblings are doing great my 6 yr old she is 50lbs and 45in or more and my son is at good height just slim. She was a full term baby, she was born by c-section. She does have a dip in her breast plate (chest) and I have even had concerns about that but cant get any answers for that either, her doc says she is ok but wont tell me anything else.

My 2 year old is still in 12 month clothes. She is very small. Not even on the charts. But she eats well and she only weighs 23lbs. I wouldn't worry she is just small for her age.

Like Jodi said it depends on if you and her father are small as well.

My 18 month old daughter was a 28 weeker, but although she is small, she isn't at the bottom of the percentile charts by a long way and the docs are happy with her height and weight. Meanwhile, some of her clothes are STILL 6-9 months, some are 12 months and some are 18 months and getting too small. There is enormous variety in the sizing of children's clothing, even from the same manufacturer/brand! As long as your pediatrician is happy with her growth over time, it's fine.

Its not so much what your daughter's size is now but how she has been growing since birth. Was she born on time or early? Has she been showing steady, consistent growth, or has her growth slowed? It is more concerning if a child's growth slows and she drops percentiles than if she has been consistently "following her curve" on the growth chart. Also is she meeting her other developmental milestones such as crawling, sitting, babbling, etc. Another consideration is how big are you and her father? If you are small, then your baby is most likely to be small as well. If your pediatrician is not concerned, then most likely your daughter is growing at her own rate. As others have said, clothing sizes, too can vary greatly.

Yup if She is healthy and growing even slowly and the Dr isnt worried I wouldn't worry to much, If You are really worried andthe dr said its fine maybe get a second opinion

She is tiny, but that doesn't automatically equal bad or wrong. I was only 13 pounds at 13 months. I had some growth issues and am only 4'11", but nothing wrong w/ that.

If she is growing, thriving, and her ped isn't concerned.... don't worry about it.

My 3 year old son was 31 pounds at his 3 year check and in the 25th percentile. His cousin is about 2-3 pounds lighter than him, BUT.... is 11 months older. No clue WHERE he falls on the growth chart, if at all, but he's perfectly healthy. :)

My daughter was still in 00 clothes at that age. Do you have a weight and height? That is much more indicative than the size of clothing. Unless your pediatrician has concerns, you shouldn't worry about what other people say. Some babies are just naturally small.
