Any experience with toddler soccer?

My 3 year old is starting soccer in a few days and the supply list says "gym shoes without cleats". Any ideas (experience) with what shoes would be best? I'm not sure if I should let him wear his velcro shoes (which is all we have right now) or if they'd be OK. I'm worried they'd come off or not give him good foot support.

It's indoor, tiny tot soccer. I've got all the other stuff on the list and even managed to figure out I needed soccer socks (lol), but this is our first organized sports activity and I want to be prepared.

I would get a good pair of tie shoes. Velcro probably aren't the best as they come undone easily.

In our town it's very relaxed so a good pair of sneakers should be fine. There isn't a whole lot of organization with 15 3 year olds running around. I would just use what you have and after the first session you can decide if you need better sneakers.
