My son was named after his father because we had decided on that together as a boys name in the very early stages of my pregnancy. His father was at the hospital when I had my c-section. But since then has refused to sign his birth certificate because he needs a DNA test but says they are too expensive. He has no legal rights because all the paper work is me alone on it. He hardly sees his son and complains does not pay child support. His mother, aunt, and grandmother all call me and tell me to be a real woman and take care of my son and to never call or ask for anything again. Then later tell me what I'm doing is wrong by not letting my son see then and not talking to them. And I haven't been able to get ahold of anybody who could help me by telling me what steps I need to take to change my sons name completely. I'm not doing it in spite of his father, I'm doing it because I feel since I am raising him all by myself and trying my best to keep a positive face even though I'm being torn down and they do tears down in front of my son. I feel he should have my last name and a name all his own not a name that connects him to people who only feel the need to have him when it involves a lot of drama.
