Yeah, and speaking of allergies or heath risks for kids today, my daughter has a child of her own. She came over to visit and spend time with me and her brother with her girl. We were talking about my grand daughter's eating habits and what she liked. We had talked about cheese and then my daughter said that she let my grandbaby have Reece's Cups. I asked her if she realized that was not good for a child under five because of allergies to peanuts. She said that her ped doc said it was fine because as long as mom and dad had no issues with peanuts that the child could have it. It was not that many years ago we were told not to feed kids under five peanut butter. Changes...what's next...anyway I am glad that you saw this. I even went to the point of looking it up because I was also told no honey until after age five as well. But I think they changed that one too. I know my kids could not have it until older. Peanut butter they got as soon as they could eat it.

OMG Evelyn you are totally right, thank you for correcting me. When my oldest was a baby they were letting parents give out cough medicine (not so much anymore). But when my youngest was a baby and was sick the only thing they would let me do was sit with her in the bathroom with the shower on hot. No fun. It was when she was a little older that the doctor said honey.

Actually, do not use honey with a child under the age of one years old. It contains a bacteria that can cause botulism and will make the child sick or even lead to the death of a child. If you need a cough medicine you should seek the advice of your doctor in medicating your child anyway. You can look this information up from the Mayo Clinic, Also Dr. Oz has this information on his web site too. For an older child it is alright to use honey to sooth a throat when a cough is going. But always, ALWAYS, talk to a doctor before medicating a young child.
