I am determined to give my daughter breast milk. I have endured several nasty bleeding sessions trying to breastfeed and I just can't seem to tolerate it any better. My daughter has the jaw strength of a pitbull! So i wanted to know if anybody exclusively pumps. I can tolerate pumping very well as of now, but my sister says it will make me miserable. What do you breastfeeding/pumping ladies think? Will exclusively pumping be any different from breastfeeding on demand? Any tips to ease the pain of breast feeding??

My son Korbin will be 10 months old in 3 days and I have been breastfeeding since day one. I have also been pumping the whole time as well. (for when he goes to his dads) I remember being so nervous about it and thinking that it was not going to work out at-all-whatsoever. For the first two months I would put lubrication on when I nursed and pumped. I put it on before and after. I used the FirstYears Nipple Butter. (Pretty sure that’s what it was called.) You can get it from Walmart I believe for about 5 dollars. I’m sure that any type of that stuff would work better than nothing at all. After a while I slowly stopped putting it on and now I don’t have to. Keeping them moisturized and lubricated was the the key for me. : )

I breastfed all three of my boys exclusively. With my third son, the pain was so bad...I was cracked, bleeding and blistering, all because he would not latch on correctly. Sounds like your baby is not latching on correctly. I found a breastfeeding consultant and she worked with me and my baby. I was shocked that as soon as my son was latched on correctly, even with the blisters, etc, there was NO pain. The Le Lache League is who I contacted. They are free for breastfeeding mom. Good luck!
