I'm just wondering if any moms have had kids with appendicitis and what there symptoms were. My son is 5 and I will be taking him to the hospital if he still doesn't feel good when he gets up but has been complaining of stomach pains off and on for almost a week now. On Tuesday he was vomiting but within 24 hours he was back to normal. He was fine all day Thursday, fine all day Friday but at night said he wasn't feeling well again. Yesterday while my husband I worked my MIL watched him and said he pretty much laid on the couch all day which is unlike him. He woke up this morning almost crying about his stomach and says it feels better when he lays on it, I rubbed his back and he went back to sleep which is also not like him. Like I said I will be going either to a clinic or hospital today even though he has his five year check up tomorrow at his doctors. He is not running a fever and has not vomited since early Wed am. I'm just wondering if any moms have any experience with appendicitis. Thanks,

Late, late, late signs (like my appendix is about to explode signs) is a swollen rock hard stomach. And you would already be at hospital because he would be screaming in pain. He would also probably have a temperature.

I'm not saying don't take him to the doctor - kids are weird and sometimes symptoms show up differently because their bodies are not finished yet but from what you described I would be thinking constipation before appendicitis BUT I would still be taking him to the doctor for treatment.

Good luck.

Kate described it dead on. I have been appendix free for 4 years now (lol) and that's EXACTLY how it feels.

The best sign of appendicitis is rebound pain on the right lower portion of the abdomen. So get him to lie on his back and start pressing gently on his lower stomach on the right side. If he yells/screams in pain when you LET GO he has rebound pain and you should run, not walk, to the ER.
