Any mothers been told they are expecting twins?

I am 5 weeks pregnant and went for a scan yesterday and you could clearly see 2 sacs. The radiographer said this could mean I am having twins but its too early to tell because neither had a heart beat. I have to go back for a another scan in 2 weeks to confirm if its twins. Has anyone had this happen to them and what has the outcome been? I have no history of twins in my family so I really dont know what to think. I would really love to hear other mothers twin storys.

My first scan`(at 8 weeks) only showed one baby. It wasn't until my 20 week scan that we found out it was twins! Twin pregnancy is very hard, if it is twins (Or even a singelton) get LOTS of rest, drink lots of fluids and lay low! I ended up delivering my girls at 34 weeks and they spent 2.5 weeks in the NICU. They are 3 weeks old today. I am exclusively breastfeeding them with a toddler under foot, so that CAN be done. That was after pumping for their NICU stay, they've only had a few ounces of formula since birth!!! They are healthy now and gaininng weight like no tomorrow! I'm still very new to being a mommy of twins, but it is already amazing! Good luck to you!

Erica, how exciting for you!! I’m a mother of two amazing twins, one boy and one girl. They are now almost 3yrs. And it was an invetro. I carried them until 38weeks. That is heavy on your body. They were not born perms and they were healthy. The girl scored 9/10 and the boy 8/10 on the APGAR test. It may sound like I am a big woman. I am 1.52cm and weight 55 now. At the time of pregnancy I was 31 and at the end of the pregnancy I weighed 75kg. Me and my babies were a total of 3 days in the hospital and went home. None of them saw the inside of ICU. I also had the choice to deliver normal, but I said no way. Cut and get them out as quickly as possible, for me and their sake. Breastfeeding – not an option for me. You will see your time is too little to breastfeed. There are excellent formulas on the market. I only had colic problem with my daughter and change to Soya. Problem solved. I would do this all over again. My first advice to you: live healthy and follow the pregnancy guidelines of your doctor like the bible. Most twins are born from 24weeks (prem) you don’t want this for yourself or your babies. Too many complications.
The last few weeks are hard on your body, rest is impossible. But do try. And secondly: your first 8 months – GET HELP. Taking the time inconsideration the babies feed, you don’t have time for yourself – to rest!
I will be most willing to help you through each week. I read a lot of books before and during the pregnancy. I m like a walking baby info centre. And until today I still look after my own twins. This is my email:

I had early scans done due to a blood clotting disorder and I was told I was expecting twins at 5 weeks and I had to go back at 6.5 weeks so they could check the heartbeats out. When I went back at neraly 7 weeks they actually found a third baby hiding behind the others! Triplets. Very sadly I lost my triplets but be prepared there may be more in there!!!!!!
