Hello. My son, Mason, was born with HLHS and other genetic diagnosis. I was wondering if any mothers of hlhs babies have been tested or tested positive for a blood clotting genetic disorder called M.T.H.F.R? I am trying to see I there is a link between the two. If you could let me know, I would so greatly appreciate it. Have a blessed day♥

Hi there Ashley, I just read your post and was very interested in it. My son suffered a stroke 6 1/2 years ago due to a blood clot in his brain & we just found out last year through a MRI that he is Hypoplastic in his Right Transverse in the brain (this is part of the area where is clot was located & they now feel was part of the reason why it developed). When he was diagnosed with it 6 1/2 years ago he went through genetic testing to determine if there were any blood clotting disorders and 2 were found a Prothrombin Gene Mutation Factor II (this they feel was a major contributor to the blood clot along with a sinus infection) and MTHFR. I wonder if there is any connection to the hypoplastic in the brain also? It does seem a little odd that hypoplastic and MTHFR show up at the same time both with the Heart and Brain. I would be very interested in any info you find and I will do the same for you.

Talk too you soon,
Karin

Hi Ashley,

I'm not sure you are going to find your answer here. If you go to 'my communities' to the drop down menu, you can search for other communities. Such as children with heart defects.
