So I pretty much have my almost 2 1/2 year old boy pee-pee trained. I put cotton underpants on him one day, because I was just so tired of trying to train with pull-ups, and that did the trick. He tells me when he needs to go pee pee and holds it till we get to the potty. But my problem is he goes poopy in his big boy underpants. I keep a close eye on him and can tell when he's getting close to needing to poop. So I sit him on the potty, and nothing happens, as soon as I turn my back for a second he runs off, quick poops then comes running back to me saying 'mommy i need to go to the potty' or 'mommy I went poop'. Any ideas how to get him to go poop on the potty??

I am having a similar problem. My close to 3 year old daughter is completely trained to pee on the potty. She can even hold it when there is no potty nearby. However, she refuses to tell me when she needs to or when she has pooped in her UNDERWEAR! Even when she was still in diapers, she couldn't have cared less that there was poop in her diaper. This is really frustrating. I am about to start a poopy chart with really cool stickers, but how should I work this? She still wears diapers for nap and bedtime and lots of times she poops in the diaper before she wakes up. It seems confusing.

We used a reward system.. I got a really cool little gift bag (used one we received from a birthday) added lollipops, small bags of M & M's, some stickers and hot wheels cars. The bag stayed in the bathroom -out of reach- and when my son went in the potty he got to choose a reward. Cars and stickers were there if I did not want him having candy - too close to bedtime etc. Worked like a charm. Also we started to empty his pop from teh diaper into the toilet and letting him flush it away like a big boy. Hope it helps :)

Try setting him on the potty in his diaper - if he'll poop with his diaper on, you can then move to taking it off... I had the same problem!! Good luck!
