Anyone been through Feeding Therapy?

My daughter is currently on a NG(nasal) feeding tube. She only drinks but about 24oz sometimes less. 1-2 days a month she only has 8 oz!! She is getting extra supplement in her milk so I understand it is filling her up.

BUT! after she reach a weight that the doctor is comfortable with. She will be going through a Feeding Therapy at CHOP, PA. I didn't ask what it is about because it is about 2 more months out.

Now I am starting to panic a little because I was told it is very intensive. Like forcing food into their mouths and only giving them 1 minute of play when they take a bite....

PLEASE tell me this is not true. Anyone! I feel bad enough that she ended up this way. I feel responsible but I know I am not. I just need some relief.

I dont know about the center your talking about but I was sent to a live in clinic to help my daughter with her eating and also to stop nursing and I can say that the nurses there were totally amazing. They asked me about what I wanted to achieve in my stay and how I wanted to go about doing it, They not only helped me with my daughter but taught me the reasons behind why they chose that way of treatment. They are firm about some rules like making the kids sit down while eating but by no means have I come across anyone that would think trying to force feed a child who already has trouble eating would be a good thing!!!! Kids will always react better to positive encounters then negitive. If you are really worried talk to your referring doc about how the program is run and maybe even see if you can check the place out before you go there. Best of luck with it all
