Hey i read all of these posts about pumping and im wondering if anyone else hates it as much as i do? im hooked up to the machine finally relax enough to get some milk and the baby starts crying for a boob. i juggle him around and the pump falls off and spills milk, it feels weird and unnatural to be milked by a robot. yada yada yada. i'm for the time being a stay at home mom so i don't need to pump for work (yet) but i still like to go out sometimes so i bought him some formula for grandma to give him on "special occasion" but one day after hearing about just squeezing it out i tried it. and just milked myself (this sounds silly) like a cow, and it worked pretty good, but i felt funny doing it and was wondering if anyone else does this? or if im some kind of freak cow woman? what are your thoughts on pumping does anyone hate doing it as much as i do?

like sometimes i hear, oh i pump and then give it to her myself in a bottle and im like WHY???? thats like going to a middle man when you know you could get it wholesale. i have tried the hand pump which worked ok but left me with some carpel tunnel, and then i tried the expensive robo pump which worked a couple times but getting it together is like defusing a bomb. and i would work all day at getting the stuff out and grandma would be like "thats all you got? thats just gonna tease him!" but is it true that you dont need to give them as much milk as you would a bottle of formula? (and the couple times he got formula he got soooo constipated!) so maybe 4 oz is enough for 6 hours+a little juice??? what do you guys think?

PS thanks ladies!

I had the worst time pumping. I only had a battery operated one side jobber and one breast never let down. I think if I'd had a double electric, it would hav been easier.

I couldn't get the hang of manual pumping but I hear it works very well for some people . My breasts were humungous sized so it just wasn't going to work.

I'd try a different pump if you can. It may help.

LOL, it's called "expressing the milk manually" when you do it by hand. :) If it works for you, do it that way.

And yes, I hated pumping. It didn't come out during the day, so I would have to get up at night and work at it so hard and getting 4 oz was a lot. I found it helped to think about the baby while pumping, sometimes that let the milk down when nothing else would.
