Has anyone gotten pregnant with the iud -Mirena- and if so what were your first symptoms? Did you have weird and almost unbearable cramping?

I have many signs of pregnancy and I've had the iud for about 7-8 months. I took a hpt last weekend -it was negative but I think it may be too soon to tell.

Thanks

The hormones in the IUD can mimick pregnancy symptoms...nausea, fatigue, ect.. until your body adjusts...and that will take different amounts of times for different women.

I have the IUD (2years now) and Im going to the dr to see about getting it out very soon. I have a non stop period maybe every 3-4 days and I have major headaches. Did anyone get headaches from this?

The doctor told me to check for my own strings often, but I never could feel them even in the beginning. I knew it was in there because my period went almost completely away, a nice side effect of Mirena... I was having like 1-2 day very light periods predictably each month, but then in about January it became very heavy again, 6-7 days long for a few months before I ended up pregnant. My whole body has been weird through this pregnancy, I continued to have heavy period each month and did not find out about pregnancy until 4 months. I figured my IUD must have come out some time in Nov, Dec, of last year, but I loved it while I had it. Light periods, nothing to think about or remember every day, low hormones, and supposedly very effective. I have heard though that if it is in and you get pregnant its more likely to be in the fallopian tube which will have to be removed or your tube will burst, it can kill you. The doc told me that a normal intrauterine pregnancy should have no complications if the IUD were still in there somewhere. But I'd still have it checked if you think you are.

Hi Lacy, I've had my IUD in for 2 years also, I use to get my period every 3 to four days also, but after my body adjusted to the IUD I have no symptoms of having my period anymore

After getting Mirena, I didn't have my period for the first 4 months, maybe a little spotting, and I loved it! I started getting a light period after that but they only lasted 3-4 days. My last period was about 4 weeks ago (maybe) and I know I spotted for a day not long after that, but I didn't think anything of it until Tuesday when the cramps and other "pregnancy symptoms" started. It's still there, I felt for it the other day. and haven't had any bleeding so I guess I'll take another test tomorrow and see, if it's negative I'll go to the doc if these symptoms persist. I'll let you other ladies know whats going on when I find out!

Hi, I have the Mirena I've had it for 2 years now, I use to get cramps and pregnancy signs. I even took a home pregnancy test it came back negative took one at the hospital it came back negative. I think your body is just adjusting to the IUD. I was like that after I had it in for 7 months.. I think your just adjusting to it and also I had it fall out that was last year, it felt like I was giving birth all over again, but Now that I have it I love it, Haven't gotten my period in about 6 months now

Oh great. This worries me. I thought I was well protected but if it can fall out unnoticed not good. Every month or 2 I have pregnancy symptoms but not a pregnancy.

I had the Mirena IUD (or so I thought) for a year. Had some heavy cramping back in January then my period became heavy for several months... pregnant as of March. I'm getting ready to deliver on Monday. They said it looks like IUD fell out because ultrasound hasn't shown it, I never saw it come out, not sure when that may have happened, but doc says it will cause no problems if left in, in fact much worse if removed during pregnancy, bigger risk of miscarriage. They will do X ray after baby is born to be sure it isn't in there somewhere. I still feel like I want another one and will probably just have to have it checked by doctor more often.

See your doctor right away!! You could be having reactions to the hormones that are literally in your body 24/7 or the IUD itself. You need to get into your doctor right away for an exam to make sure no damage is being done

My co-worker didn't get pregnant, but hers mysteriously disappeared! They have no idea where it went. Not what she had in mind when she got it, I'm sure. From hearing that and the fact that you're wondering, I would definitely get checked to make sure it's still there!

Hello. I've had the Mirena IUD in for a few years (2nd time) Had it before No#1 child then reinserted when he was 6mnths, removed 1 yr later, reinserted after no.#2 was 3 mnths. Never had any probs, had a bit of cramping but it all settled. I love it but it's not for everyone. My GF had it and was in unbearable pain, and bled non-stop. She had to have it removed and have a scrap (yuk) but she's all good now. Talk to your GP or Specialist ASAP. Not worth risking something nasty, maybe it's just not the right contraceptive device for you. Good luck.

Call your doctor... If you are it's VERY important to have the iud removed immediatedly... life threating things can happen if it's left in... for you and the baby... if your not it will put your mind at ease....
