Anyone have a hypersensitive baby??? Does this mean there's something wrong??

My 15 month old is hypersensitive to noise which makes him scarred of alot of things and he'll cry because he's petrified. I've talked with his doctor and he's said there's nothing neurologically wrong or anything. I just have a gut feeling that there might be more to it. But, I wanted to know if other moms have a child similar to mine.

Thanks, Elfrieda. I've tried making it into being fun and I just worry because he has thing about holding onto my thumb or hand when he goes to sleep or sometimes when we're driving he has to because I feel like he's scarred. Its good to know that other moms have babies who are timid and scarred.

My son would cry before he was one when people cheered or clapped, he was scared of the vacuum cleaner and air dryers in public washrooms until he was almost two, and he still will notice any little sound and point to it. I have to sneak around during his nap because he will wake up if it's loud, which is not what my friends' babies do.

My theory is that he just has very good hearing and pays attention to his surroundings. I remember once I dropped the kettle into the sink when I was 8 months pregnant and he jumped so much my shirt moved.

As far as getting him not to be scared, his personality is that he likes things to be funny, so if I could get him to think of it as a joke or fun or show him exactly how it works (hurray, you can turn on the vacuum! or Press this button and the fan turns on.) he would stop crying, even if he was still wary of it.
