Wondering when babies learn to sleep on their own, without being trained? My girl is 5 months. I breastfeed to sleep every time unless she wakes at night shortly after having eaten(I just put my hands on her, pat and shush).

I do not believe in either of those methods either. My daughter slept through the night from 3 weeks because of the issues I had breastfeeding her but I did try for a while. We had gone to visit grandparents and I had lost the milk supply. We got her home and she took 4 oz of milk and slept the whole night. My son was a different story. He fed on demand, slept that way, and was up and down all night until he was about 2 years old.

Your girl is 5 months. Most infants don't sleep through (over 5-6 hours at a stretch) until they're a bit older. If she's sleeping 2-3 hours at a stretch, she's doing great.

Personally? I fed on demand, slept on demand...and my kids are great. I don't believe in CIO or sleep training.
