Anyone using the Ketogenic Diet?

Our little one has got a chromosome 2Q deletion and is having infantile spasms because of the deletion. We have tried most of the medication like Sabril, Keppra, etc. We are trying the ketogenic diet now to stop the seizures and its looking good! She is only having one light spasm a day now. We have high hopes for this "life changing" diet.

Hi there, my name is Miriam. I have a 4 yr old daughter with a chromosome deletie 2q24.1-2.

I'm from the Netherlands. The geneticus couldn't tell me to much about it. On top of that she has a fragile X syndrom couting between 50-60 where the geneticus also couldn't tell me nothing.

She's been in and out of the hospital trougout the first 2 years of her life because of kidney problems and a whole lot of other stuff. Right now she is doing great. Don't really know what changed but she's started using words. Not a lot but she's trying. Her undertanding is growing.

she haven't been sick in a while and she's is enjoying life a lot more.

How old are your children? Did your docter now more about it? I would love to share experiences.

I'm on a low-carb diet for weight loss so I'm in ketosis as well but it's not for epilepsy. I love this diet! I've never felt so full of energy and I'm finally down to a healthy weight. Glad to hear it's working for your daughter! :)
