Having irregular cycles. Son nursed 14 months. Period came back at 13 months. First cycle was 50 days, then 22 days; now 15 days! Latest just 1-2 days spotting, BBT went above coverline on Day 4! Is this normal? Prior to pregnancy, cycle shortened 1 day each month and was at 18 days when I conceived. Anyone else have experience with this?

UPDATE: I did see the doctor, who said it's normal for my age (almost 46) to have this issue. Irregular periods are normal in perimenopause. I just started a new one yesterday and the last one I had prior to this was in min-November! That one lasted 12 days, so it was like two periods in a row! I am hoping this one doesn't last as long and that the next one comes sooner than 60 days! It's hard waiting and not knowing when it's going to arrive (though I knew I was not pregnant from taking an occasional morning temp-and it was very low)!

Thanks. Pre-pregnancy I started at 26 days, then every month it dropped by one day like clockwork for 7 months until I conceived. We are on the fence about another baby given my age and the father's age (almost 48) and the latest news on genetic defects, father's age playing a big role, not to mention all the Down's risks being so much higher now since they jump dramatically as you age.

Between my third and fourth babies my cycle was about 35 days, and after my fourth it shortened to 19 days, but now it has evened out to 29 days every time, going on about 5 months now. Unless you are having a very heavy flow or lots of pain, I would give yourself a couple more months just to see if it regulates itself. Having babies definitely does cause your cycle to do weird things.

Sorry, no, not on the pill. I was on it, but I have vestibulitis and it was causing me trouble, so I stopped using the pill several months before my periods returned. I will send my doctor an email to ask about this. Perhaps it is peri-menopause as I am 45 years old.

I say go see a doctor, are you on the pill? if so did they change it on you? from what you normally take?
