About how many diapers does a newborn use either weekly or all together? For example, the label on Huggies for newborn says for 7-10 pounds.. how long and how many until they arent 10 pounds and need to upper the diapers to 11-16 pounds?

You can find a lot of baby stuff used- clothes, cribs, strollers, swings, etc. Check out churches in your area, some often have free items for families, tag/yard sales, friends and family members that have had children recently, and craigslist and consignment shops.

The things that will cost money are-

a car seat. Buy this new.

diapers- cloth or disposable, it's going to be an expense

food- if you are breastfeeding, you need to be sure you are eating well, if not, formula will take a good chunk of change, and when they start eating solids, that will be something to save for too.

health care and/or child care (babysitting)

It depends on the child. I have one that could use newborn diapers for over 3 months and one that used them for less than a month.

You'll probably go through at LEAST 8-10 diapers a day for the first several weeks/few months. Buy in bulk. The weight on the package is a range- you can still fit a 10lb baby in a newborn diaper for a while. My first child was 9.9 and we used up our newborn diapers and then started using size one when we were done. He gained weight fast (never lost any) so by his two week checkup, he was over 10lbs, but we used up the newborn diapers and just didn't buy more in that size.

It depends on the child too. My boys were both over 24 lbs by their first birthday, but I know several two and three year olds that weigh about 24 lbs.

If your baby is going to be in a car... a car seat is a must. Buy it new, but there are many options to choose from and you certainly don't need the most expensive.

The baby needs diapers and clothes and food. I recommend at least giving breastfeeding a try just for the cost factor alone. ;) Anything else, you can improvise, buy used, or get hand-me-downs if you know anyone with a child a bit older. My best friend has a boy about a year older than my son and one almost a year younger.... until my boy out grew her oldest I didn't buy 99% of his clothes because we just traded things back and forth. ;)

Are your parents and/or your boyfriend's parents being helpful and supportive? You are in a tough position with being so young, but with a good support system things will be alright!

Thanks :) I bought 76 of them the other day on sale at walmart, and i was thinking about having a baby shower but if I don't I wanted to at least get an idea of how many I was going to use a day and the time period to see if i should buy some more or not in that size. Im only 15 and my boyrfriends 16 without a job so we're a little tight on money, should i worry about the diapers a little later and get some other stuff or?
