doctors are def not always right! My son was always sick with pneumonia, uri's and ear infections from the age of 12-20 months. It was prob about 2-3 infections a month! he was constantly on antibiotics (which you get immune to and don't work the way they are supposed to). The doctors said he was fine and some was prob part of teething and just making things up I felt. I insisted on seeing an allergist because that's when he started to eat a lot more reg foods. Allergist didn't want to do any tests because they said he was too young. After 3 allergists one finally agreed. Nothing showed up on the scratch test but on the blood test it showed up that he has a moderate milk allergy. He was on nutramagen formula(easy to digest) before 1. When we took out all dairy out of his diet and put him on soy he stopped getting sick. he is now six and outgrew the allergy last year. Since then he has had only one ear infection. Stick with your gut feeling and get other opinions! FYI milk allergy affects skin (eczema), respiratory system and digestive system. Not saying this is what your daughter has...i was just shocked that it affected the respiratory system when I found out! Good luck!

NO, BUT WHEN OUR DOCTOR HEARD A WHOOSING SOUND IN HER CHEST, WE KNEW SOMTHING WASNT RIGHT. HER HEART WAS TWICE THE SIZE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN SO WE HOPED ON A MEDIVAC FLIGHT TO KAPOILANI CHILDRENS HOSPITAL IN HONOLULU WHERE MY KIDO HAD TO HAVE 3 BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS @ AGE 2. ALL BETTER KNOW BUT PARENTS KNOW THERE KIDS AND SOMETIMES DOCTORS DO KNOW BEST. THIS TIME SHE DID AND I THANK MY HEAVENLY STARS EVERYDAY. DR. O

I am very sorry to hear what is happening to your baby. I am going through the same thing. I have Kaiser and have taken him to at least 5 different doctors at the same facility and they all can't find the underlying problem of his chronic cough that is been going on for 5 months now. I just switched insurances and will be taking him next week to get checked by another pediatrician. I would recommend that you look for another pediatrician and get a second opinion, even a third opinion if the second one still says she will be fine. Hopefully everything goes well. Best wishes.

My son was always sick too & I was always blown off by other drs other than his own but it took his own dr till he was 6 to recommend him to go to an ears, nose & throat specialist to get his tonsils & adnoids out...he had sleep apnia on top of seasonal allergies & asthma but I didnt get a final diagnoses of these conditions until than & I took him to an allergy specialist on my own to get the asthma diagonosis...take her to specialists...they'll figure it out much faster

There is definatly something wrong! Lung, or something maybe in the house she is alergic to a auto imune issue, something... Best advice I ever got about drs is from my dr. He said "look, your intelligent, and your a mom. Im a dr, Not my kid, and Im not there 24/7 ask my opinion. but listen to your heart. Mothers will ALWAYS know more then a dr when something is wrong, and its a drs job to help figure what it is and then fix it!" How true that is! Her ped keeps telling me my daughter had a yeast rash gave me all these prescriptions for creme. I kept telling him, no, Its something else. My personal dr(not her ped) listend to me, and said ya know, lets check the ph and such in her urine. Aparently, some children have unbalanced levels and everytime they urinate or anything it imediantly chaffs and burns their skin. Now we know. We can be more careful, and use a different creme and clensers for her baths. Its helped so much. If i had listend to the yeast thing, my daughter would continue to suffer from this painful thing for no reason. I knew it was something else. Your mom, you KNOW theres more to it. so follow your heart!!

Hi! You have been through a lot. We all know that helpless feeling you are feeling right now, only difference is that you have been there over and over and over. You are at the point where you need to centre yourself and focus on what it is that you want for your little girl. You need to dig deep, if you receive an answer from your child’s pediatrician that is not satisfactory, tell them and demand a better answer or a referral to a specialist. Don’t stop, keep searching, keep asking questions. Keep all records on file and take it with you if you see a new pediatrician or specialist. Stress the past experiences to them and demand a solution shaped for your child’s needs.

Good luck and let us know the outcome!

Yes. ask for a referal, if yu need one to an asthma alergist or some other kind of specialist. It is normal for kids to get sick a lot because of their developing immune system, but it is more common for kids that have asthma or some other problem. If you have a childrens hospital pf some kind try to go to a specialist there.

If you are going to pay out of pocket - you can see any doctor you want to.

Simply do some research on the internet for what tests you want run and then order the doctor to get them done.

Its a long shot but did they check her white cell count?

Was she a preemie? I've read preemies are vulnerable to repeated illness and infections.

Have you moved at all since she was born or are you in a home? If you are in a home and have not moved, it could be something in the home that is triggering her illnesses.
No Dr's aren't always right. My son almost died becuase the Dr's didn't listen to my husband. Our son was 2yrs old and had a cold for about a week. He was fine for 2 days and then started screaming at the top of his lungs. He had a fever of 104.3 so i told my husband to take him to the ER and i would stay with our daughter at home. My husband was back 2 hours later and said the Dr said it was just a cold and it would go away within a day or 2 and just to keep giving Tylenol. Well, 2 days later his fever was still 104.7 so I went in this time with my husband and i told the Dr this important line ...i dont' care how many kids you see in the run of a day. I know my son better then anyone and i can tell you he is not right. I am not leaving without an x-ray being done and some answers.
20 minutes later he had his x-ray and his lungs were so white the Dr was shocked. She said she understood where the Dr was coming from the night before and she said she would have sent us home as well and we were very lucky we brought him in. He was acting like himself after the 2nd dose of the medication for the pneumonia and i am also convinced he had the H1N1. He had every symptom but the tests and clinics were not available at the time he got sick. We were none the less in line 2 weeks later waiting for the vaccine for it.
We are given a great intuition when it comes to our kids. We know what is best for OUR kids and if you think there is something more going on then get a second third or even a fourth opinion. Also check your house and get it tested for mold. We had ours done about a month ago and we were very pleased nothing showed up so we know if he gets sick again it's not from his living situation but he is rarely sick. He has had one cold since birth and then this. He is now 2.5years old.

No drs are not always right. My daughter was fine for the first 3 months of her life. Then, overnight, she got sick. I took her to the drs every single week for 3 months & they just kept telling me she was getting viruses, but finally at 6 months they sent us to a pediatrician. Thank goodness in my daughters case, the pediatrician immediately tested her for a few things, the biggest being Cystic Fibrosis...& lo & behold...she tested positive for it! They sent us to a specialist & she is almost 2 now & doing great, but she could have been soo much sicker if we hadn't been so insistent! I would listen to your instincts & get a second opinion. Hope she & you are feeling better soon :D

i switched pediatricians 4 times before my son was 3 months old. one dr. told me i was watching my son too closely....3 weeks later we're in surgery to have a tumor removed from under his eye.

get a second, third, and fourth opinion. what have you had done in terms of scans, xrays, whatever? I don't remember who told me this, but a baby had something similar to you and they finally did a scan of her lung. A xmas tree branch was in there and causing all the problems.

If you haven't already, get a second opinion from a specialist. Sometimes pediatricians can only help so much.

Hi Anne, i have an 11 year old and a 2 year old.. no Doctors are not always right..
my daughter just had surgery from tonsils, adnoids and had tubes placed in her ears. reasons: she had recurrent ear infections about 9 since birth, snored alot i mean alot and could not breath thru her nose only thru her mouth. i took her to 3 diffrent doctors because i knew something was not right..until the 3rd doctor suggested surgery.. i am so pleased with the surgery, my daughter sleeps better, breaths better and now she sounds like a little girl. So i think you need to take your little one for a second opinion a third or fourth if you have too..it will not hurt!! i wasnt to happy at first with the thought of her having surgery but i prayed and prayed for the lord to bless the doctors hands since he was performing surgery on my princess and now she is all GOOD it was a blessing to have found him...Good luck!! and best wishes i will pray for your little one..

Wow, I hope your baby girl is ok. My only suggestion is to get 2nd, and 3rd opionons! You are the MOM and you feel like something else is wrong I would stick with your gut feeling! Just because they have a PHD does not mean they are always right! Good Luck and my thoughts a with your little one.

My granddaughter was constantly sick her first tow years, after getting no where with her pediatrician, I finally told him she had to be checked for allergies. It turned out to be food allergies (carrots, celery, fennel, dill and the family of products that go with those). Once we took her off of those things (I have learned to cook everything from scratch) she has been extremely healthy, however because she was on antibiotics for most of her first 2 years she is now allergic to penicillian. Be pushy, and your instincts are what you should go with. There are some pediatricians who will do a nasal allergy test, tio find out what they may be allergic to, so don't be afraid to ask for that to be done. Most pediatricians will/ do not like to refer you for testing, but don't stop there, find a pediatric allergist in your area. One other thing is if you have cats, I have been told by several eye specialist that children who grow up with cats tend to be allergic to them as they grow. The most common food allergies are chocolate, milk products, wheat, nuts, (most of these items are in foods you may not even realize are made with these items) dust and pets. Also almost every piece of chocolate has been contaminated by some sort of nuts. I hope you find out what is causing your childs health issue very soon!

i would take her to another ped, doctors arnt always right there human an make mistakes like everyone else an if you really feel that there is something wrong then keep taking her to a different doctor untill you feel that you got an answer that makes you feel better or at eas nobody knows your baby like you

I would definitely seek a second opinion. I can't imagine that "nothing" is wrong, this is not normal. I agree with Heather ... make sure you take her records and if this doctor says the same thing, try a specialist for allergies and/or a respiratory specialist. Good luck!!

thats how i was when i was little constantly sick and on every antibiotic out there (at the time) one week i had bronchitis, the next week tonsilitis... and i missed half of kindergarten because of it! but when i was 5 i had my tonsils taken out and i havent been sick (like that) since then!

i would definately recommend a second opinion or an answer from your current dr. be up front with any dr about the problems that you see and the concerns you have. be demanding, or even down right pushy... you have the right, shes your baby and you must know what is wrong with her. make sure any dr has exhausted their ideas or diagnosis until you figure out what is really going on. dont give up, even if you need a 3rd or 4th opinion! you will figure out whats wrong with your LO even if it takes a few drs

oh yes, second opinion! there is some other problem. i had a friend that had mold in her house and one doc said the kid was just sick and the other asked about mold. found it, cleared it up and kid's fine. not saying yours is a problem like that, but a second opinion or fresh perspective is always a good thing. also try asking at a local health food stor for some probiotics for little one. if the baby has been on that many antibiotics, the tummy could be upset and need the good bacteria in to balance it out. studies now are showing if you have a healthy digestive system, your entire immune system is better off. let us know what happens. i really hope you do a second opinion.

Has she ever been checked for acid reflux? Silent reflux does not have the telltale projectile vomit and sometimes no other symptoms other than respiratory infections.

You can always seek a second (and third, and fourth) opinion. I was told my kids were fine, too, and pushed back and requested referrals. I had to get 4 with my daughter to finally find out what was really going on.

Just so you do realize though, it sounds like your daughter has had quite a variety of infections. Usually with a disease process it's consistently the same thing over and over. One thing you may not realize is that children (and adults) can become ill once, and if they're exposed to another germ too soon, they'll get it even if they typically wouldn't. The immune system becomes very low and weak. You may want to ask the doctor about some immune therapy if it's an option at this age, or what vitamins would be safe to add to her diet. It can honestly last years.

I would recommend a second opinion. One doctor is now always right. Ask to see a specialist if there is one thing that is usually wrong over the others. My son was sick constantly and we found out it was allergies. So get a second opinion. When you go be sure to have a copy of her records with you.
