Hello all,

My daughter Isabella just turned 4 in February and although she is a very smart and sweet kid she has recently gone back on tantrums...I thought tantrums were normal for kids 18 months to 3 years old but 4???? She can yell and whine, throw things and cry, huge sobs and then ask for a hug or to be picked up....both my husband and I work full time so she goes to daycare where she is one of the best behaved kids; it's at home where getting ready in the mornings, brushing teeth and brushing her hair make the tantrums happen. Is this normal? Should I be concerned with her beahviour and seek for professional help?

Please help; thanks a lot in advance.

She doesn't need professional help. She needs discipline. Don't reward her by hugging or picking her up when she's thrown a fit like that. Get the hugs in when she first gets up, make it the start of her routine. Also, she might need an earlier bedtime if she's not wanting to get ready in the morning. Do you let her pick out her clothes the evening before? That might be a help too.

Terrible twos is a myth. Just saying :) All kids are different. My oldest was MUCH worse at 4 than at 2 or 3, but my daughter was the worst at 3. Niether of them were terrible at 2.....
