Are you worried what your kids are doing on the Internet?

I read recently that online games have viruses built in, and as more and more kids do homework online it is getting harder to make sure they don't trip over harmful sites and inappropriate content. How do you keep your kids safe?

Susan,

At my house I am the control. The computer is in the living room where I can see what is on screen and I look over his shoulder. Not all those programs are going to catch it all. He knows that if he is caught with content I do not like, he is in trouble and will be banned from the internet forever. He is nearly 17 so I am learning to also trust him to make the right choices and guide him in those he is not sure about. Also you have to understand kids this day and age can learn how to get around that content control. THE BEST CONTENT CONTROL IS YOU.

I make sure I know where they go and what they are doing. My son is allowed only sites I know and I have antivirus to scan with to help protect the computer. Also he is told what information he is allowed to put online. I have said computer in the living area where I can see the screen at all times. I can also check history to see where he has been. Just use some common sense.
