Ask moms for advice

My six year old and ten year old sons were walking home from school yesterday. A mom with her 11 year old daughter came by on their bikes. According to my son and a neighborhood woman who happened to be working in her garden they did not warn my children they were behind them and got a little too close to my six year old as they passed. My ten year old son called out please let us know when you're passing us and the mother stopped and said don't you dare talk to me like that. From my sons and neighbors description of the woman I have a pretty good idea who it was. She doesn't know me or my sons and I feel she had absolutely no business talking to my boys like that. I'm trying to decide if I should confront this mother or just let it go. I started letting my son's walk the three blocks home by themselves this year after my ten year old was begging me to let them walk home by themselves but after yesterday he's a little apprehensive to do so. I don't have a problem walking them home but I do have a problem when another mother is the cause of his apprehension. What would you do?

If his been happy to walk to school alone until now, I wouldn't change that.It could cause more problems. I would let it go for now, you never know it may have been awake up call for the woman. I would tell your son if she does it again to say nothing to her but to tell you. Then maybe have a word with her but lets hope that she will think the next time

She does not sound like someone you want to confront. If your son and neighbor both have the same story of the manner in which your son spoke to the woman and the way she responded.... confronting her will, most likely, only cause more trouble.

I'm trying to think of what 'I' would do though.... and I don't know. Sorry.
