AskMy daughter is 12 and asked me last night if she can start wearing makeup - such as browns, neutral colors for eyeshadow, lipgloss and mascara. I have been telling her no to makeup but she is starting 7th grade this year - all of her friends were wearing awful makeup in 6th grade and I only allowed her lipgloss. I'm thinking about it but how do you begin....I've always told her when she is old enough that I would take her to get lessons on how to do it right - that I don't agree with what her friends look like with the colors and caked on makeup. What should I let her start with? moms for advice

I'm with you on this one mom. I think she is too young. However, you should praise her for coming to you first instead of sneaking around and doing it. I think your idea of seeking professional help with applying it is a great one. Maybe you should also introduce proper skincare into the mix as well and start with a neutra lipstick then gradually get to the eyeshadows and etc by 8th grade. Tel her that you want to see if she can begin properly caring for her skin first.
