My son just turned 15. At the age of 12, he started becoming withdrawn and won't socialize. He's a giant teddy bear - the tics he has (clapping and clicking with his tongue) have gotten worse. He was just diagnosed the other day - after a prevoius diagnosis of ADHD, ADD. But it's the sensitivity issues that really set me into motion that I needed to have a diagnosis. I thought I was going crazy. After a while, my husband and I just tuned it out really - now that we know that he has verbal and motor tics, I'm more at peace - just knowing that it does exists. He can turn the tics on and off - no problems at school but the minute he gets home, he releases away. He can't sit and watch TV, he stands there, rocking and pacing back and forth. and he's very sensitive to smell, touch and hates water on his head. He won't let you hug him - he pushes away - some of these things I don't understand but like I said, we just got the official diagnosis. I don't know where we're going from here, but it's been difficult to see your child so lonely - that I cry - and he doesn't show any empathy. I hear that's typical. He obsesses over things - things he wants - things he sees - he googles every sports star. I'm very lucky. He's a great kid - the social thing is just killing me. (not him - he doesn't think there's anything wrong with not going outside or having friends). Anyone else have these issues?
