My daughter napped until two months before she turned 5. My son is 4 years and 2months and he still naps ( only up to 1 1/2 hours so he sleeps at night). My 28 month old naps well. I honestly can't imagine a two or three year old not napping. I know some don't, but I've never met them! :)

Depends on the kids I think. My mum has told me that my brothers and I stopped napping at 2 yrs old. My boys are 31/2 and 2 and both still nap. My 3 yr old doesn't nap regularly, for the most part he is done napping, but occationally he will. My 2 year old definitely still needs his nap, although I think he is growing out of it as well because his naps are getting later and later. (and only once a day)

my oldest stopped somewhere between three and a half and four years old. Just in time for me to have her baby sister- lucky me!!!! Seriously, just stopped. She went from 3 hour afternoon naps to nothing.

It definitely depends on the child. My daughter is four years old and still takes naps occasionally and my son who is seventeen months old is taking shorter and shorter naps and some days he does not sleep at all. So you have to go with the flow on this one.

Totally depends on the child!!! My almost 18 year old stopped napping when he was a couple years old, but my 10 year old always needed more sleep. 10 year old was still napping until she started kindergarten.

The bonus to napping ending was the kids then started going to bed earlier in the evening so I still had some "me" time.

My daughter is now a month away from her fifth birthday. She naps at school (Preschool) but at home on weekends, she doesn't take naps anymore. She'll be starting Kindergarten this fall, and they DO NOT (at least this school) take naps. She stopped needing them around the age of three and a half or four years old, basically, she just would have a harder time falling asleep, and if she missed a nap, she wasn't grumpy or tired anymore. I think it really does depend on the baby... especially after reading some of these other posts! ;-)

hi there i have 3 children .. just had my 3rd in march.. my 2 older boys are very energetic and didnt need naps after the age of 1. My youngest son used to go to a child minder and they had nap time after lunch and it completely destroyed my evening routine as he would be up till well after midnight when he had beeen there.

It really does depend on your child and wether they need a nap to get through the day. In my experience it was very difficult to let them nap as they are so energetic afterwards and with no nap at all they were happy to get through the day and go to bed at 6 ish.

And what time was nap time? I think my daughter is getting up to late and taking her naps to late that it makes her stay up late at night. It is 11:30 and she is still not asleep though she went to bed at least an hour and half ago.

Depends on the kid! I have some friends whose kids still take naps at 5. They are the lucky ones!!! Mine stopped at about 2.5 years and 2.75 years. Basically, it wasn't worth the battle anymore to make them stay in their room and sleep. Good luck!

I have read a book that recommends parents try to maintain naps for their child until at least age 3 or beyond. This recommendation was based on scientific research.

My 5 year old stoped taking naps around 3 1/2 he started preschool at 4 and very raley takes naps since. I Have a 3 year old who maybe only naps 3 days out of the week, but really naps depend on the child.

My son stopped napping around 20 months. The bonus though is that he started sleeping 12 hours straight at night. I believe 2-21/2 is the average though.

I think it depends on the child. I belive that they still have nap times at school when there in kindergarden..
