I think it's different for every child. I will let my girls start shaving when they hit puberty, or a year after. It will depend on them, and how badly they need it. My personal age is 12yrs old, unless they need it before then. Once my girls hit the age of 12, I will let them shave even if I think they don't really need it. If they have thick or dark hair around 10 or 11, I will let them shave then.
Try a compromise, like an electric razor.

great thanks for all the advice, i explained to her about aving to continue with it if she started and she didnt seem to fased about any of it anylonger- i think it had a lot todo with being at a friends house that had started to shave. if she asks again i will let her use hair remover. Would be great if they started waxing young as she is doing with her underarms but i think waxing her legs could put her off for life, lol. thanks again. Claire

I was 11.5 when I started doing it... My 12 year old cousin convinced me I 'had' to....

My 9.5 year old girls have very light leg hair, so I discourage them thinking about it (they haven't outright said they wanted to, but we discuss it) reminding them that it is something they'll have to keep up w/ for the rest of their lives. IF they were insistent.... I wouldn't forbid it or anything though.

I've never used hair remover and yeah, I got some pretty good 'gushers' in the beginning, but pain makes you a pretty fast learner. ;)

I don't see an issue, i would use hair remover since younger girls tend to cut their legs accidentally with razors. I used to "sneak" shaving at 10 and my mom threw a fit about it. All my friends were shaving, too so I felt left out that I couldn't. Sounds dumb I guess.

I think I started at 12. And these days kids are maturing so quickly, I don't think 11 is that young. BUT if her hair is that light then I would just really leave it up to her. Maybe she feels uncomfortable.
