At what age is a good age to allow your child(ren) to start bathing by themselves?

My oldest daughter is 6 and my twins are 4 (soon to be 5) and they each seem like they would like to start bathing by themselves and doing it all on their own. I of course am paranoid of drownings and what not, also worried they wont get their entire body. So at what age do other parents allow their children to start bathing by themselves.

My 5 year old has been doing it since he was about 3.5 and now he does it all on his own. He usually leaves the door open but that is by his choice. Our 2 year old washes her own hair and body but we have to help her get the soap out of her hair.

All of my kids were doing most of it by 3-4 years old. I'm never out of ear shot though. Until around 5 I would still do a 'body check' about once a week to make sure they were keeping clean. And, of course, helping girls rinse out their hair as long as needed.
