MY 12 YR OLD DAUGHTER SEEMS TO BE A KNOW IT ALL TELLING ME AND HER FATHER WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO . I HAVE TOLD HER THAT I LOVE YOU I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND ONLY IF YOU WANT , I HAVE ALSO INFORM HER THAT PLEASE AND THANK YOU GOES A LONG WAY AM I WRONG OR RIGHT ?

Of course you are right. She is the child. If she wants something or wants to go somewhere/do something... she needs to ASK you... not tell you. I have that issue w/ my own 12 year old on occasion, so know that it is perfectly normal behavior. BUT... it is not acceptable behavior.

You have to lay down the rules of what you expect out of her and let her know what the consequences are of not following through on her end... and then you need to follow through on YOUR end by sticking to the consequences.

Perhaps sit down w/ her and have a discussion on what she thinks is reasonable and why... and what you think is reasonable and why. Hearing each other out can go a long way in understanding where you both are coming from. She is growing up and probably wanting more independence and time w/ her friends and that is perfectly normal and reasonable, but there still has to be boundaries and rules followed and consequences to breaking those rules.

It can be tough to find the right balance in everything. Good luck!
