I have two boys only about a year apart in age with different but very similar types of autism. Here is where it gets tricky... They love to set each other off. My youngest is usually the more innocent of the two, but both are guilty. They cannot stand each other, or so it seems, yet they get overcome by anxiety when they cannot see each other. Sometimes the younger acts like a selfish bully to his older brother, other times the elder is whining and making distressed sounds for no reason in a pitch that instantly sets off his baby brother into an apocalyptic fit that includes hitting himself, others, and furniture. Even 2 on 2, we are often out numbered. We have a decent sized apartment, but with their yelling, no amount of inside distance isolates them from each other during a fit. What to do???
