Tomorrow my 25 yo High-functioning Aspergers son sees Family doctor and I would like to discuss Benefits of a vasectomy as he is in a steady relationship. I have seen and read that offspring sometimes have even more severe symptoms. His father has bipolar symptoms but not Autism. he is about to graduate college and move out.

Unless you are his guardian then you have no say in the matter. There is some indication that ASD has a genetic component. However, has not been any evidence to demonstrate that ASD adults should not reproduce.
Note:
"ASD occurs in all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups, but are almost five times more common among boys than among girls. CDC estimates that about 1 in 68 children (2014 CDC) has been identified with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD)."

While I agree that many ASD may not be capable of achieving long term romantic relationships, I do NOT agree that those who do, should be prevented from having children.

I don't see any reason for a person who is high functioning to not become a parent if he/she would like to and if he IS high functioning... at 25 it is entirely up to him and his doctor to discuss these topics on their own.

Have you discussed this w/ him? Does he want you at the appointment?

It is his body.. It is his choice. More effective would be teaching him about birth control, and std's. How to be responsible.

He probably would not mind but I work so I will just suggest this conversation to doctor who knows my son's mental health issues but does not know that he is now sexually active.
His father could never support him and he seems more 'disabled ' than his dad but more likely to succeed because of help with getting through college.
