5 wk old daughter has acne on her cheeks, head, neck, behind her ears on some on her chest. My doc says it is normal, some people think it is allergy. My older daughter just had a few in the first few wks then they went away. Is this normal? If so how ling will it last?

my 4 week old daughter also has a HORRIBLE red rash all over her face, neck, upper back, upper chest, and ears...my doctor said it is baby acne and might become eczema. I used the Cetaphil soap as he suggested, and my mom said to use ucerin, but now it is leaking a lot of yellow fluid and crusting over. It looks devastating. Anyone know what if this is normal and what I should do?

hi danielle, is it breastmilk allergy? wash with with clean water is good, and in indonesia, we usually treat it with (sorry about this) mother's saliva. first thing when u got up in the morning, just lick to area that has problem. i think that's because it has something that could cure the acne. it's not very hygiene, but it works :)

...You put the who in the what, now? Why would you do that? I mean...yucky.

My daughter never had baby acne, but a few of my friends babies did. They swear by Burts Bees, they say it works wonders! And it is all natural.

Wash her face with plain water in the morning and at night, I made the water a little warm and left it pressed against my son's skin and within a few weeks it was gone

It's normal and usually does not take long for them to go away. The older people call them "milk bumps".

oatmeal bath wash and oatmeal lotion they make it for baby's! My doctor told me that when my daughter had it next day it was GONE!!!

My son had this at the same age, it got worst and started to spread. Eventually the doctor gave him antibiotics, and it went away after about a week. I wasn't' keen on giving such a young baby antibiotics but it was much more than milk spots and I'd tried cleaning it with water and putting natual creams on it etc but nothing helped. He's 18months now and it hasn't come back but I was told that he may get bad acne as a teen. I'd got to our doctor is you're worried.

I think what you are talking about sounds like 'milk spots' It's your baby's skin maturing and it is perfectly normal and very common. DO NOT squeeze the spots and just clean your baby as normal. Special creams will not help. Your baby will lose the spots in about a month.

My daughter had the same thing. It was all over her face and behind her ears. I can't remember exactly, but I think it lasted around a month?

It's normal. Wipe her body with a wash cloth a few times a day, but don't do anything else. It's just hormones, my daughter's went away at about 8 weeks or so.

My daughter had that too... I just used sensitive skin Clearasil and a baby washcloth. It went away eventually.

it could be baby acne an how you said that some people are saying it might be an allegy that could be very true too my son had it horribley bad all over his face an neck an back an i was breastfeeding an a few things happend all at once(my son never spit up an then one day when he was 5 weeks old he just started throwing up an i found out i had mastitis an could not get my breast milk back pretty much in a nut shell i stop breastfeeding an my son got put on nutramigin an within 3 days all of his bumps were gone

It's normal, and it lasts a varying amount of time. Keep the baby's face washed (most doctors/book I've read recommend just water) and that will help.
