My 6 week old son has lots of gas and is very difficult to burp, he also suffers from bad reflux, we have tried positioning etc to help with the reflux, but I am wondering if anyone has any experience with baby bottles they can recommend to lessen the gas and reflux if possible. Right now I am breast feeding, but if something else will help, I will certainly try it to make my son feel better. Thank you!

Some people I know also liked the Dr. Brown's bottles for reflux. My son didn't like them (he's very picky about his bottles). We went with the Playtex Drop-ins. He was gassy too, so we usually added Mylicon to his bottles.

Have you talked to your doctor about the reflux & gas?

Babies magic tea is the only solution in my knowledge. My baby boy had the same problem and someone suggested me to use it. It really worked.

I had great success using the Dr. Brown's bottles. My son was VERY gassy and I noticed the difference immediately after the very first time we used one of the Dr. Brown's. My friend used the Avent brand. Either way, if you go to the bottle, the idea is that they vent the air out of the liquid and in turn, the baby gets less gas. If you're breast feeding though, I'm wondering if maybe your doctor or a lactation specialist could help you find a way to continue breast feeding and reduce the gas.

There is also an inexpensive pump that you can buy that are for those bottles, if you were looking in to doing something like that too.

I tried about 4-5 different bottles and the ONLY ones that my daughter liked aswell as me were the Playtex Nurser Bottles. The Drop-In ones! I find they are the BEST b/c you can push all the air out and the baby can comfortable put their mouth on the nipple without air coming in that way too. Plus they are easier for you to clean and sanitize : ) A plus!

With my daughter I used the Gerber bottles and honestly they sucked...she was also hard to burp and these bottles always made her guzzle gas and caused her to spit up....so avoid these at all costs. With my son I used the Playtex Avance System. They are made so they are naturally tilted and have a silicone filter and the bottom of the bottle as well as the filter are perforated to allow air to escape. My son only spit up a couple of times whereas my daughter would throw up at least once per feeding. Good luck.

I have been using the Avent bottles. I originally selected them b/c they are BPA free, but I know they have info on the packaging about their specially designed air-flow valve ... it apparently lets the air back in to the bottle rather than baby's belly. Haven't had too many problems.
