I found Ebay a great place for bargains or ask at your local charities or churches.

I totally understand that! We have always had a tight budget financially and I have worried about many things. I have a few things to share that have helped us...
#1-Where we live, there are a few churches that run a free clothing share two times a year. That has been a huge help for us. You can look for things in your community - especially churches that will run events like this - they take donations, and all is free to whomever would like to come.
#2 - Rummage sales are great, but depends on the time of year.
#3 - Also, children's resale clothing shops. We have a store near here called Children's Orchard - they run what they call a "fill-a-bag" event twice a year - whatever you can stuff into the bag they give you is $5.00, $10.00 - etc. If you pack and roll tight, you can fit a lot of baby clothing in because they are small. I've packed over 30 items before in a $10.00 bag, so approx. 30 cents per item. The only way to beat that is #1 above - free! Children's Orchard's are in various places around the US, there aren't a ton, but look online to see if there is one near you - or you can see what local resale shops are nearby and if they run any similar sales. Children's orchard also does half-off white ticket days - so you can get lots of nice clothing for very cheap as well.
#4 - we've just been very blessed to have been given many hand-me-downs - if you have a social network of friends/moms nearby and feel comfortable, you can always throw it out there to say - for instance - that you are looking for 6 month onesies or sleepers or whatever - does anyone have any they are getting rid of?
#5 - my sisters and sister-in-laws, label our baby clothing with our initials and share our bins full of baby clothing depending on who needs what at what time. That has also worked out great. Swapping clothing for a while works out great - babies don't stay in clothing very long before they grow out of them, so if they are taken care of, they could be like new.

Anyways, hope that helps. Sometimes it's luck of the season, the location, and knowing what to look for and where to find it, but with a little searching and investigating around your community, you may find some great resources. Good luck!
